When design keeps the family together….

Vimar is the leading Italian producer of mobile power plugs and offers more than 50 different plugs, sockets, multi power outlet strips and adaptors for many international standards. Every one of these products has different body geometries and has to respect specific dimensional norms. The challenge for the design team of quickpartners+ was to define a characterizing design language that was applicable to the most different body geometries uniting them all to the same product family.

Building a bridge between tradition and the present, connecting continuity and innovation

The “half-moon”, the plug body’s grip element, is a predominant identifying feature of quality plugs made by Vimar. Redesigning a successful product with yet high turnover and central element of identification of the company’s history is delicate challenge. The design safeguarded the transmitted values of tradition keeping the characterizing silhouette and the half-moon though modernizing delicately all surfaces. Thus, the design team preserved the essence of the product yet interpreting its intrinsic qualities in a clearly contemporary attitude.
